Nurture and Empower Her Initiative joined forces with our partner organizations Ubuntu Sisters For All Foundation Afrihub @World changers Exceptional Organization to bring menstrual empowerment to Immaculate Conception Secondary School, reaching over 100 students - both girls and boys - in commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day (officially May 28th).
Our impactful program included:
📢 Myth-Busting Sessions - We dismantled harmful misconceptions about menstruation and breast health through open, honest dialogue
🎥 Empathy-Building Film Screening - A powerful short video helped students understand the challenges of period poverty and the importance of solidarity
🛠Sustainable Skills Training - Taught students to produce Vaseline as an income-generating project to fund menstrual products for their school community
Essential Distributions - Provided reusable pads, disposable pads, and hygiene kits to those in need
This commemoration went beyond awareness - we equipped students with knowledge, resources and skills to create lasting change. When we educate both girls and boys about menstrual health, we're building a more understanding and supportive community.
